Hiding The Smell of Smoked or Stored Cannabis

The smell of weed can be exciting when it hits the nostrils. It can also be so difficult to disguise, it could land you in trouble. Here is our guide to keeping the stench from cannabis under control.

We’re confident you’ll agree with us here: weed smells great—incredible, in fact. The skunky and earthy aroma of the herb provokes a sense of nostalgia and excitement at the same time. It reminds cannabis users of sessions past, and lets them know when a long day has come to an end.

However, not everyone appreciates the obvious smell of weed. Sometimes, smelling like you’ve just hit a bong for breakfast doesn’t go down too well. Whether you’re attending a work meeting, family gathering, or riding public transport, covering up the smell will put your high mind at ease.

Below, we’ll cover the most effective ways to cover up the smell that clings to your body, clothes, car, and even hair after a smoking session. Use these techniques to blaze whenever you see fit, and come out the other end smelling fresh and clean.

How to Hide the Smell of Weed in Your Room

Smoking cannabis in the comfort of your own room trumps almost any other location imaginable. Lying on your bed with a large joint, your favourite music, and some delicious snacks has most smokers teetering on the edge of nirvana.

However, the lingering fear of stinking out your apartment block or getting busted by a neighbour or landlord often prevents cannabis lovers from experiencing complete bliss. Check out how to prevent the smell of weed from taking hold, and how to remove it when it does, below.

Prevent a Weed-Filled Room

As the age-old saying goes, prevention is better than a cure. By stopping the smell of weed from taking hold in the first place, you’ll boost your chances of staying under the radar. The cheap and simple trick of ventilation often suffices!

  • Ventilate!

Before hitting a bowl or blunt, crack open a window and turn on a fan. Of course, this technique directs the smell of weed outside of your window. But many smokers prefer this outcome compared to weed fumes filling up their hallway.

Proper storage also plays a key role—weed smells even before you smoke it. Keep your stash in an airtight container to stop terpenes from leaking out into your room.

How to Mask the Smell of Weed in Your Room

If you’re smoking exceptionally smelly weed—or it’s simply too cold to open a window—the next port of call involves doing your best to cover up the scent. There are various methods smokers use to cover their tracks, with additional terpenes often serving as the best solution.

  • Essential Oils

Terpenes are strong enough to underpin the smell of weed, so logic suggests they are strong enough to cover it up! Essential oil diffusers utilise terpenes found in particularly aromatic plants —enter rosemary, eucalyptus, and lavender—to make rooms smell as fresh as a daisy. Use these devices to override the signature smell of weed with the aromas of more innocent flowers and plants.

How to Hide the Smell of Weed in Your Home

Most cannabis users start their love affair with cannabis in their college dorms or a room in their childhood home. Eventually—following graduation, promotion, or other avenues—they move out into their very own abode. This big move comes hand in hand with considerably more freedom, such as blazing a bong at breakfast and hitting bowls in the bath (peak pleasure for most stoners).

If you’d rather keep the smell of terpenes out of your house, check out the prevention methods below. If you’re in need of an emergency cover-up, see how to mask the ever-increasing odour.

Prevent Your House from Smelling of Cannabis

Of course, adequate ventilation still applies when smoking in other areas of your house. If you have a favourite spot to blaze, bust open a window and turn on a fan. Ideally, choose a room where guests are less likely to enter, and one with good ventilation.

  • Head Outside

Alternatively, head out to the garden. If you live in a sunny region, make the most of the vitamin D and sit among your garden plants. If you’re dealing with a cold snap, sheds and outhouses provide great refuge and will prevent you from stinking out your home.

  • Proper Storage

Also, remember to store your weed wisely to prevent terpenes from leaking when you’re not even smoking. Mason jars and air-tight bags work great at trapping terpenes.

How to Mask the Smell of Weed in Your Home

After blasting your house with terpenes almost every day, your nose will become rather desensitised to just how similar your abode smells to a Dutch coffeeshop. Although far from an issue for you, it can become a cause for concern when guests announce their surprising presence within the hour. But fear not, there are several actions you can take to get your home smelling fresh and smoke-free before they arrive.

  • Incense Sticks

Light incense sticks and place them in the most affected areas. Much like essential oil diffusers, incense sticks release strong aromatic compounds into the air that are surprisingly good at covering up the odour of weed.

  • Candles

Aromatic candles also do a good job at masking terpenes in the air. With a huge selection of scents out there, choose whichever hits your nose in the right way.

  • Odour Eliminators

Although the last resort for hemp-clad weed smokers, chemical formulas do a superb job at covering up the smell of weed. Sprays such as Febreeze and Oust rapidly replace the skunky aroma with a refreshing and effective burst of aromatic molecules.

  • Air Purifiers

Air purifiers work by circulating air through a series of fine filters. Not only can they help to remove smelly terpenes from the air, but they can also trap some of the potentially harmful substances found within second-hand smoke.

How to Hide the Smell of Cannabis in Your Car

Although we advise against driving and smoking weed, cars actually provide a superb smoking location when stationary. Not only will blazing in a vehicle stop your house from smelling, but cars also feature inbuilt ventilation systems and—perhaps more importantly—half-decent sound systems that add a punch to that reggae bass.

Prevent Your Car from Smelling of Weed

Heated seats. Fans. Music. Pretty LEDs. Sometimes it seems like cars were made to be smoked in. If you love blazing in your four-wheeled stallion, check out these means of keeping it smelling fresh.

  • Blast the Fans

Before hitting the tip of your joint with a lighter, put the fans on. If you really want to avoid a smelly car, putting up with the loud noise will pay off.

  • Crack the Windows

Ventilation will carry terpenes out of your car, preventing them from seeping into the material of your seats. Open the windows on either side to keep a constant flow of air rushing through your vehicle.

How to Mask the Smell of Weed in Your Car

If you’re in a rush to burn a joint, chances are you forgot about prevention—no worries! Even if your car now smells more like your grow room, use the tips below to address the issue.

  • Air Fresheners

Nearly every car features the quintessential air freshener dangling from the rear-view mirror. Often relied upon to keep the smell of drive-thru food at bay, they also help to combat the smell of weed.

  • Coffee!?

Yes. The dominant and equally addictive smell of coffee covers the smell of terpenes effectively. Place a bag of coffee grounds into your car and let them sit for a day before removing them.

  • Odour Neutralisers

Odour neutralising products don’t just temporarily mask the smell of weed, they physically bind to the aromatic molecules and remove their scent. Place these blocks in your car after a smoke to have it smelling neutral in no time.

  • Pay for a Deep Clean

Head to the cleaners. A deep interior clean of your car will have it smelling as good as new. A combination of industrial cleaning products and a topping of air freshener will eradicate even the stinkiest of terpene profiles.

How to Remove the Smell of Weed from Your Hair and Body

Terpenes don’t just cling to furniture after a smoke, they also linger on your hair and body. You might not detect the smell of weed on your person after a smoke, but everyone in your office will be hit by a wave of cannabis when you step foot through the door.

Prevent Your Hair and Body from Stinking of Weed

Preventing the smell of weed from clinging to your body will save you from some awkward moments at work and elsewhere. Use these tips to remain smelling fresh.

  • Blaze Outdoors

Smoking outdoors will reduce the chance of smelling like bud after a smoke. Increased airflow will move the terpenes away from your body, especially if you face away from the wind.

  • Change the Route of Administration

While smoking offers a satisfying ritual, it also immensely increases the chances of getting busted. Use your weed to create extracts or edibles! But be warned, edible highs are often much more intense.

How to Mask the Smell of Weed on Your Body and Hair

Once you’re coated in terpenes, your love for weed will be on full display until you utilise one of the options below.

  • Take a Shower

Smoking at home before you head out means you can jump in the shower first. Use a powerful shampoo and body wash to remove the smell of terpenes from your skin and hair.

  • Pungent Perfume

If you’re smoking on the go, carry around a bottle of particularly potent perfume in your bag. Apply generously before heading back to the office to cover the smell of clinging smoke.

How to Get Rid of the Smell of Weed From Your Clothes

Not only does weed smoke cling to hair and skin, but it also resides on clothes for relatively long periods. Here are some tricks for keeping that scent to yourself.

Prevent Your Clothes from Smelling of Weed

The key to stopping your clothes from smelling like weed: don’t expose them in the first place. Check out your options below.

  • Wear an Outer Layer While Smoking

If you’re heading somewhere immediately after a smoke, wearing an outer layer while you light up can take the brunt of the smell. A hoodie or jacket will capture most of the terpenes and intercept them from latching onto the clothes underneath.

  • Smoke Naked!

Before you leave your house, lay out your clothes ready to go and place them in another room. Kick back, take your time, and enjoy your joint. Once finished, take a stoned stroll into the other room, suit up, and leave the house smelling fresh!

How to Mask the Smell of Weed on Your Clothes

A quick smoke on your lunch break or just before catching the train can leave your clothes smelling very herbal indeed. Cologne works well at keeping body odours at bay, and it also helps to cover up the scent of problematic terpenes. Just make sure to apply more than usual to get rid of the obvious smell.

How to Smoke Weed Without Causing a Smell

For many cannabis users, their first time experiencing weed involved smoking a joint or bong. Many users stand sternly by this means of administration, never wavering in their loyalty. Sure, traditional smoking provides a sense of ritual and community, but there are plenty of options that are much less smelly.

Dabbing

Dabbing involves dropping concentrates onto a red hot nail. Although these preparations contain a lot more cannabinoids, they burn a lot less plant material than a joint. There is some smell produced, but it’s not nearly as “telling” as regular smoke. Dabbing involves using a large rig and a blow torch, but it serves as a great option just before heading out the door.

Vaporizers

Vaporizers expose cannabis flowers and extracts to much lower temperatures than smoking. Through vaporization, these devices target cannabinoids and terpenes without burning them (causing combustion). As well as improving the flavour experience, vaporizers create much less of an odour.

Sploof

If you do insist on smoking, consider using a sploof. Cheap and easy to make, they consist of a toilet roll tube, elastic band, and piece of paper towel. Attach the towel to one end of the tube and exhale smoke into the opposite end. The makeshift device helps to intercept some terpenes and reduce the smell.

What Kills the Smell of Weed?

To recap, here are some of the most effective ways to banish the smell of weed when you need to act fast:

  • Air fresheners
  • Scented candles
  • Incense sticks
  • Essential oils
  • Proper ventilation
  • Store your weed wisely
  • Alternative methods: vaping and dabbing
  • Use a sploof when possible

Safety Tips for First-Time Cannabis Smokers

Here’s what you can expect from your first-ever cannabis smoking session. Don’t you worry, it won’t kill you.

So, you’ve decided to embark on your first herb-smoking voyage. You’ve done your research and had your healthy dose of Cheech & Chong movies to say to yourself, “Hey, why the heck not?”.

Now, let’s assume you’re doing this for recreational purposes, more than anything. Before you get yourself into that altered state for the first time, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind.

Top Safety Tips for First-Time Cannabis Smokers

Whether it’s learning how to ride a bike or completing a judo hip throw, or smoking weed for the first time, there are always safety measures and best practices to consider. Ultimately, it’s all about preparing your mind and body for a totally foreign yet eye-opening experience. Here are our top tips for an enjoyable inaugural cannabis high.

  • Choose the Best Time of Day

As a rookie entering the game, pick the best time of day for you. Impairment is a guarantee, so you’ll want to smoke up during the night after you’ve crossed out everything on your to-do list. And here’s a word to the wise: don’t try to schedule any sort of activity after you’ve smoked. You likely won’t get anything done, especially if you’ve been hit hard.

Instead, take this time to acquaint yourself with the feeling and how it affects your overall disposition. It may be like going into uncharted territory at first, but the ride will smoothen out as you go along.

  • Choose the Best Environment

When fixing up your place for a date night, you’d pull out all the stops. That includes picking the right music and preparing the mood lighting and delicacies you’ll indulge in.

Take a similar approach for your first time smoking weed. Make it a comfortable, safe setting for you to feel at ease. Your environment will play a huge role in this first exploration into the unknown.

  • Keep Yourself Hydrated

One of the first physical signs of cannabis inebriation is “cottonmouth”. As the name suggests, the inside of your mouth will feel thick and dry, as if you stuck a ball of cotton in there. For some people, it could be a very uncomfortable, distressing feeling.

Your best bet against cottonmouth is to keep hydrated. Have a pitcher of water next to you for when the feeling kicks in. Sugary drinks like juices or soda work well too.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

  • Prepare the Munchies Beforehand

You’ll know the weed’s kicked in when you suddenly have the urge to consume everything in your pantry. That, my friend, is a case of the munchies. In a nutshell, marijuana’s psychotropic chemical THC tricks your brain into making you feel like you need more food, causing a seemingly never-ending appetite boost (at least for the next hour or so).

Be prepared for when the munchies attack with a bag of your favourite potato chips or another easy snack. Eating can actually help mitigate some of the more uncomfortable side effects of the high. But like everything good in life, keep it in moderation.

  • Eat a Bit Before Starting

Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach will get you intoxicated a lot quicker. That’s because the food helps slow down the alcohol’s absorption when it passes through your small intestine.

You can apply that same theory to smoking weed. Have a cracker or two before diving right in, just to slow down the high a little bit. Ultimately, that allows you to make the most of the entire experience.

  • Start Out With a Joint

Everyone has their own preferred method of smoking weed. But if you’re a newbie, go with a couple hits from a joint or blunt for your first dive.

Using a bong or pipe involves some skill that is likely alien to you, as opposed to hitting a joint, which is very similar to sipping from a straw. It also provides a more consistent flow of cannabis, often in lower individual doses than hitting a pipe every few minutes.

  • Pick a Strain With a 1:1 CBD:THC Ratio

Smoking a strain rich in THC will get you the high you’re looking for. But, to not drift off too far into space, you might want some cannabidiol (CBD) to balance things out.

So, if you’re looking for that perfect first-time buzz, go with a strain with a 1:1 CBD:THC ratio. By striking that balance right in the middle, the high will be milder and a lot easier to “control”. You’ll still feel that nice euphoric feeling, but it won’t send you to another dimension just yet.

  • Choose the Best Companions

Apart from the environment you’re in, the people around you will also influence the quality of your cannabis experience. If you’re with a Debbie Downer, don’t look forward to a nice time. If you’re vibing with someone in great spirits, however, you’ll feel that energy too.

Moral of the story: pick the ideal companions to smoke up with. Ideally, they’re someone you greatly trust, and whose company you enjoy.

  • Don’t Smoke Alone

This point builds on the one above; while there’s nothing criminally wrong with smoking on your own, it’s definitely a lot more worthwhile to have trusted people around you your first few times. These are folks who will show you a great time, but will slap you back to sanity if necessary.

Just like how it is when learning to drive a car for the first time, you need a seasoned individual to help you learn the ropes. You’re dealing with an entirely different experience here, so save the solo flight for your fifth or sixth smoke.

Don’t Smoke Alone

  • Don’t Mix With Other Substances

Since you’re doing this for the first time, you’ll want a pure, unadulterated experience for your maiden voyage. So, if you were planning to warm yourself up with a few cocktails, don’t even think about it.

Adding alcohol into the mix will only aggravate the situation. It may cause your head and the world around to spin, leading to episodes of nausea and vomiting. Who wants that? You don’t want alcohol to be the factor that puts you off cannabis.

  • Don’t Smoke Too Much

We’ve all heard those stories about people trying to show off by smoking ridiculous amounts for their first time. As you’d expect, it didn’t end very well for them in terms of enjoying the experience.

Don’t be that guy. Take things slowly, savour the moment, and smoke in moderation. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

  • Don’t Get Up Too Fast

Let’s assume you were in a very comfortable spot as you were smoking. You could be sprawled out on the carpet of your living room or plopped right onto a La-Z-Boy, then you’re suddenly hit by the urge to take a leak.

Word of advice: don’t get up too quickly. That may cause your world to spin out of control, in turn causing some unnecessary and unwanted worry. Save yourself that trouble for your first time, yes?

  • Be Patient

All seasoned weed smokers know that one person who questions everything after that first hit. A Doubting Thomas, if you will. You’ll hear endless laments of, “Hey man, I’m not feeling anything. Is your stuff even legit?”.

Again, don’t be that person. Be patient and give it a little time. The high you’re looking for will hit you like a thief in the night when you least expect it. And when it does, you better be buckled up.

  • Learn From the Experience

Depending on the strain’s potency, the overall vibe, and your pre-smoking mood, the experience may vary between pleasantly memorable and very uncomfortable. However the ride turns out, it’s best to be as neutral as possible and try to learn from the experience.

Remember when you started drinking alcohol? It probably took some time to learn your limits. Do the same thing with your weed smoking. It may take a while (or not), but you’ll get there.

  • Don’t Even Think About Driving

Not even after an hour or two after smoking. There’s a good chance that your brain is still fried and you have yet to descend from the ether.

If you really need to be somewhere, have someone else drive for you. Do not do something stupid that could endanger yourself and others. Better yet, just stay put. You’ll thank yourself later for making such a decision.

Don’t Even Think About Driving

  • Taking Edibles Is a Totally Different Ballgame

It goes without saying that smoking and eating cannabis are two completely separate things. The herb enters your body differently, which ultimately leads to somewhat different experiences.

Edibles are around four times more psychotropic than smoked cannabis because the THC is turned into the highly potent 11-hydroxy-THC when digested. So, if you choose to go the edibles route, or it’s your only option, start very slow and consume small doses. It’ll kick you hard before you even know it.

  • You Might Feel High the Next Day

Now, here’s a little disclaimer: there’s a good chance you might still feel a little high or “out of it” the day after your first toke. That could be due to a few things. For example, if you take edibles, the entire experience can last eight hours or more, depending on how much you consume.

But what do you do if you still feel high the next day? Although the manner in which you deal with it will be entirely up to you, keep in mind that the feeling won’t last. You’ll eventually descend back to normalcy in a matter of hours—don’t worry about it.

Weed “hangovers” can make you feel lethargic and a little fried, but they are by and large more bearable than alcohol hangovers.

With that in mind, you can deal with a weed hangover by staying hydrated, resting, and perhaps taking some CBD to feel a little more balanced and “together”. Thanks to our innate endocannabinoid system, and the relative safety of cannabis in general, weed is processed in a manner that doesn’t take too much of a toll on the body.

What Can Happen to You When Smoking Weed?

Cannabis affects everyone differently. That said, there are certain sensations experienced by a large share of users—both in the positive and negative sense. First, let’s focus on the positives. Here are some of the reasons weed is beloved by so many:

  • Uplifting, euphoric effects
  • Giggles—everything will be triply funny
  • Food will taste extra good (you’ll gain five pounds at most if you give in to the munchies)
  • Strong wave of relaxation—kiss tension goodbye, at least for a little bit
  • You’ll feel a sense of bonding with your fellow smokers
  • Prepare for profound or complex thoughts
  • Music and movies (sounds and visuals) will be enhanced
  • Increased focus on a single topic/activity
  • Slowed passage of time

But what if you’re on the other side of the spectrum and you’re instead met with a racing heart, uneasy feelings, and strong negative thoughts swirling around your head?

Here’s what you can do:

  • Take some deep breaths
  • Hydrate and have something to eat
  • Distract yourself with conversation or some form of relaxing media (stay off your phone)
  • Lay sideways on the sofa (as opposed to on your back)
  • Don’t keep yourself planted on one surface for too long—stretch out
  • Get some fresh air or open a window
  • Make your surroundings more comfortable—put on some soothing music, etc.
  • Try to sleep
  • Relax—remind yourself that you’re just high and everything will pass

With our list above, we hope to have informed you a bit on the important safety measures and best practices to consider your first few times toking. Even experienced stoners would do well to keep this advice in mind, as everyone can have an unpleasant cannabis experience from time to time. Just proceed slowly, exercise moderation, and bask in the good vibes.

How to Make Marijuana Tea

Most think you can only enjoy cannabis if you smoke, vape, or eat it, but cannatea is a delicious alternative to these conventional methods. In this article, we look at what marijuana tea is, consider its benefits, help you figure out an optimal dose, walk you through the effects, show how to make it yourself, and recommend optimal strains.

You may have heard of magic mushroom tea from your psychonaut friend, but have you heard of cannatea before? Smoking and vaping are fine ways of getting your dose of cannabis, but some people can’t physically handle hot smoke or vapor running through their airways.

So, if you’ve been looking for a way to enjoy weed that’ll soothe your throat rather than hurt it, marijuana tea may be a welcome addition to your routine.

The Benefits of Marijuana Tea

While you might suspect the benefits of cannabis-infused tea to simply line up with those of cannabis in general, there’s something to be said about consuming it specifically as a tea.

  • Relaxing Sensation

To start, if you find that enjoying weed and sipping tea both relax you, imagine the soothing sensations you’ll experience when enjoying both at the same time. Since you don’t have to worry about quickly inhaling any hot smoke or vapor, you’ll end up noticeably more content in the moment. The drink may be hot too, sure, but slow sipping and the addition of things like butter or milk should make that manageable.

You may find yourself even more relaxed if you sip a tea that’s free of caffeine, such as chamomile, peppermint, or ginger. We’d also suggest utilising an indica strain, or one including terpenes like myrcene and linalool, to enhance those effects. That might be too sleepy for some, though, so be cautious when dosing your tea with an unfamiliar strain.

  • Promotes Healthy Digestion

Along with helping us stay relaxed, drinking certain teas can keep our gastrointestinal tract (GI) in good working order[1]. Herbal teas, such as peppermint and ginger, are considered to be especially effective, but different people will have different experiences, and it’ll take some experimentation to figure out the perfect tea to support your internal workings.

  • Soothes the Throat

Most of us are used to hurting our throats when enjoying cannabis, whether we’re smoking, or, less harmfully, vaping. However, when sipping cannabis tea, you may find it actually soothes your throat[2], rather than damages it. While the weed itself isn’t responsible for this, your throat will enjoy the (moderate) heat of the tea. Chamomile and green tea, specifically, are the ones considered most effective in this regard.

How to Make Marijuana Tea: 2 Methods

While it isn’t as simple as putting a tea bag in a cup, making your own marijuana tea is ultimately easy. You just need a few basic ingredients, namely your usual tea fixings and some ground cannabis, and less than 30 minutes of effort and waiting.

1. The Cannabutter Method (easy and convenient)

Ingredients

  • 1g ground cannabis
  • 1 tea bag (whatever kind you prefer)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or cannabutter
  • ½ pot water
  • (Optional) honey, sugar, cinnamon

Hardware

  • Tea or coffee strainer

    Directions

    1. Before getting into the tea recipe itself, decarboxylate your ground cannabis in the oven at 115°C for 45 minutes. Feel free to do this beforehand to keep waiting time to a minimum. Performing this step will make for a more potent brew.
    2. Boil some water in your pot on the stove. Use at least two cups of water so you can be sure you have enough.
    3. Add your butter (or coconut oil) into the water, and stir while you wait for the butter/oil to completely dissolve.
    4. Add your ground, decarbed cannabis into the butter/oil and water mixture.
    5. Bring the temperature down to a simmer, and leave the pot simmering for a minimum of 15 minutes. Like regular tea, the longer you leave it to infuse, the stronger it’ll be.
    6. Place the strainer over the top of your mug/teapot of choice.
    7. Pour your desired amount of tea.
    8. Add your tea bag of choice for your preferred flavour and effects.
    9. Throw in extra ingredients like sugar, honey, cinnamon, milk, etc. for flavouring.
    10. Leave the tea alone so it can properly steep.
    11. Enjoy!

    2. “Cannabis Tea Latte” (made from scratch and great for gatherings)

Ingredients (for 4 servings of 200ml each)

    • 7g finely ground buds or 14g of trimmings (decarboxylated)
    • 15g softened butter (or 30ml of pre-heated coconut oil)
    • 400ml full-fat milk (or almond milk etc.)
    • 400ml water
    • Tea leaves
    • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
    • 4 tbsp of honey
    • A touch of cinnamon

    Hardware

    • Metal tea infuser

    Instructions

    1. Decarboxylate your cannabis.
    2. Mix plant matter, milk, vanilla extract, and butter (or coconut oil) thoroughly. Let this mixture sit at room temperature for about 1 hour.
    3. Now, you can pour the mix into a pot, add water, and also place your pre-loaded metal tea infuser in the middle. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes, aim for low to medium temperatures, and don’t boil anything!
    4. Pour your “tea latte” through a fine kitchen sieve to remove all plant matter and refine flavours with a tablespoon of honey, a dash of cinnamon, and anything else you desire.

      Types of Marijuana Tea

While we mentioned ground cannabis flower in the recipe, you can actually make tea with (practically) any part of the plant. You grew every part of your cannabis, so why not get some use out of each and every bit?

      • Buds

Cannabis buds of course, should be your go-to when making cannatea. They contain the highest concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes, so infusing them will lead to the most potent possible cup.

The drawback, of course, is the fact that you don’t have an endless amount of buds, and using them exclusively can make your cannatea habit quite expensive in the long-run.

      • Leaves

You’re going to have more leaves than buds on your hands come harvest-time, and there’s usually no other use for them—but they work very well when making cannabis tea.

You can either add dried, decarbed leaves straight into the water, or heat them in some coconut oil. If you go with the latter method, the oil should bring any present cannabinoids forward, making the resulting tea a good touch more potent than it would be otherwise. Even then, however, the relative scarcity of cannabinoids and terpenes on the leaves (relative to the buds) means cannabis leaf teas are weaker in general.

      • Stems

We’re sure you’ve got stems piled up somewhere, and now you have a way to finally put them to use. They may look humble, but you’d be surprised by how many cannabinoids you can squeeze out. You’ll need a decent amount for a pot of tea, about five grams worth, although that could easily come from an ounce of shake or mid-quality buds.

      • Ready-Made

If you don’t want to make your own tea, you can buy a ready-made one. Cannabis-infused beverages will be everywhere pretty soon, and there are some teas already on the market. In particular, CBD-infused teas can be found in stores and online in many places, as the soothing cannabinoid makes a great complement to a warm brew.

      Marijuana Tea Mixers

When brewing your own tea, you have the luxury of choosing your mixer, which can notably alter the experience. Don’t overthink it though; whatever you usually put in your tea will blend into your cannatea perfectly fine.

      • Water

If you’re looking for a mellower high, you can keep your tea plain. THC is not water-soluble, so you won’t be able to take in every bit that’s in your plant material. However, if you’re not too particular about your dose and just want something quick and chill, plain cannatea will suit you fine.

      • Butter or Oil

If you want a stronger, longer-lasting high, we suggest you add in butter or oil. THC dislikes water and loves fat, so the fat in the butter or oil will combine with the cannabinoids so you can process them all.

      • Tinctures

If you’re looking for a quick boost to your high, adding a couple drops of tincture to your tea could also be ideal. While they usually aren’t as strong as the average cannabutter, tinctures can still give you a great buzz, and are easier to add to your tea in a pinch. It may throw off the taste, however, so be sure to add in some additional honey, sugar, lemon, etc. to improve it.

      Calculating Dose per Cup

If you’re making it yourself, the THC content in your tea will vary according to which strain you’re using. To get a rough idea, use this general rule: add a 0 to the end of your weed’s THC percentage. For example, if your weed has 15% THC, there’ll be about 150mg in your cup for every gram used.

We recommend starting with a smaller dose if you’re a beginner, and further suggest you only build up the dose in small increments each time you enjoy it.

      Effects of Cannabis-Infused Tea

As it goes with edibles, the effects of cannabis-infused tea take a while to show. As far as what you’ll feel, that’ll come down to the type of tea you’re using and what strain of cannabis you’re infusing with it.

      Onset

Typically, you’re looking at around a 30–90 minute wait before the effects of your cannatea begin to take hold, though it can take up to two hours for some.

For example, those with lower amounts of body fat might feel the effects sooner than those with more, and shorter people may feel it sooner than taller folks. In turn, if it’s your first time, you may start to notice the effects creeping on earlier, while those who regularly partake will need more time before they feel things kicking in.

      Duration

For most people, a marijuana tea high will last around 4–8 hours, but this will, again, depend on factors like individual physiology, food/drink intake, and tolerance to cannabis.

      Non-Psychotropic Teas (CBD Tea)

Instead of using high-THC strains for your tea, you could always make CBD tea instead. As mentioned earlier, you can find CBD tea in cannabis shops or make it yourself. Unlike high-THC tea, CBD tea won’t get you high, but will instead offer all the effects you know and love from taking CBD in other forms.

Additionally, you can make CBD tea with tinctures you’d usually take under your tongue (sublingually). The tea will mask the tincture’s bitterness, and adding in honey, milk, or flavouring will make it virtually undetectable to the tongue.

      Strains We Recommend for Cannatea

You can make cannatea with any strain; but, for those unsure which would work best, we have a solid list of recommendations.

      Fruit Spirit

Bred for flavour, Fruit Spirit is ideal for a hot mug of delicious cannabis tea. A member of the White Widow family, Fruit Spirit is marked by sativa-dominant genetics, hints of blueberry, and a mellow and relaxing head high. With all that goodness, fuelled by a modest yet notable 18% THC, it’s definitely one of our favourites for milder highs.

      Fruit Spirit

      Lemon Shining Silver Haze

Known for her strong, tart fragrance that tiptoes between sweetness and dankness, Lemon Shining Silver Haze is sharp lemon soda in weed form. As well as a pleasant taste, you’ll experience the euphoria of the best sativas, powered by 21% THC. If you like a kick of citrus in your cup, give this a try for your cannatea, too!

      Lemon Shining Silver Haze

      Green Gelato

Potent and flavoursome, Green Gelato is reminiscent of a chocolate chip ice cream topped with orange drizzle. It also has a whopping 27% THC content, so it’s the perfect choice for the heavy THC users amongst us. It takes effect quickly, and the slightly indica-dominant genetics will have you basking in a physically relaxing yet clear-headed high.

How Long Does a Cannabis High Last?

Various factors come together when it comes to determining how long will a high last for. Whether you smoke or scoff a brownie, the type of strain you choose, the amount you take—this is not an exhaustive list of things to consider. Read on for more details!

There are times when it’s handy to know how long you can expect the effects of cannabis to last. It could be that you still have work to do or need to drive somewhere. Perhaps you are planning a night out and are trying to estimate when to smoke so you can enjoy those effects when out with your friends. Giving the answer to the question at hand would be easier if weed hit us all the same, but that’s not the case. The effects don’t vary too wildly from person to person, however there are several factors that come into play when determining the duration of your high. We can safely say that it’s a combination of those factors, so let’s explore them in more detail.

CANNABINOID PERCENTAGE IN YOUR WEED

Before we talk about an individual’s set of features that make highs longer or shorter, look at what you’re smoking. If the strain is a mild 14% THC with a moderate amount of CBD in the mix, like Royal Bluematic for example, the high won’t be too strong and long-lasting. However, if you go for something along the lines of Amnesia Haze (22% THC), expect to be on that ride a while longer.

METHOD OF INGESTION

We also have to consider how the weed is being ingested. When it comes to inhaling smoke, people generally see their highs lasting for one to three hours. If we’re dealing with edibles, though, the high can push well past that boundary and stick around for a good four to six hours.

AMOUNT

Along with the way you choose to consume your weed, the amount you take will affect how long the high lasts. So if you take a couple more edibles than normally, you’ll be high for five to six hours. You might even go past that in special cases. The same goes for smoking—a hit is enough for a bit, but the whole joint will have you high for 3 hours or more.

AMOUNT VS TIME

Those that drink will know at least one thing. Pounding six shots in one hour gets you drunker for longer than drinking the same amount in six hours. The same principle applies to weed. If you have a joint in bits over the course of the night, you’ll be in the zone for about an hour each session. If you smoke the whole thing yourself in 15 minutes, you’ll be good for three hours or more.

TOLERANCE

Now we have to consider the individual. Even after smoking the whole joint, someone who smokes two per day would be high for more or less an hour. However, giving a 10mg edible to a first-timer can leave them soaring for almost eight hours.

AGE

Due to the brain’s impressionable state in youth, 18-year-olds can expect to stay high for longer than older smokers. The reason for that is the same as the reason why cannabis is harmful to younger consumers. Since it’s able to stick around in the brain, every effect it has is stronger.

METABOLISM

As some could expect, your metabolism plays a key role in the duration of your cannabis high. If your body takes more time to process chemicals, your high will last a bit longer than that of your peers. If your metabolism is on the faster end, you’ll likely be the first of your friends to reach sobriety.

HEIGHT & WEIGHT

While not as major of a factor, a person’s height and weight will still affect their high. Heavier and taller people will stay high for longer. The effects heavier people experience are also impacted by low metabolisms at times, since they occasionally appear together.

AWARENESS

Lastly, if you focus on the fact that you’re high, the sensation will linger on longer than it would if you weren’t paying attention. Cannabinoids stay in your body just as long, whether you pay attention or not, but the duration of the feeling rests partly in your hands.

Even though it’s tricky to precisely determine how long you can expect for the high to last, we hope this quick rundown was helpful. It is always a good idea to start low and slow if you are a beginner. This way you can observe your reactions and gauge the amounts that work best for you.

How to Clean Your Bong, Bowl or Pipe

We’ve all been there. It’s time for another smoke, but your glass bong is no longer transparent and far from smell-free. Plus, every hit scratches the throat. It’s time for a major clean. Your lungs will thank you for it!

Nothing beats smoking weed from a brand new bong or pipe. Your new glass piece glistening on the coffee table before you is a sight to behold. The first few hits are crisp, clear, and smooth. But it doesn’t take long for this transparent work of art to transform into a tar-stained mess. We’re all guilty of neglecting our smoking accessories from time to time. Using your pipe or bong for a few days in a row is no big deal, but things start to turn ugly in a matter of weeks.

It’s easy to determine when a glass piece is ready for a clean. Silicone and wooden pieces are a different story. Users of the latter can remain blissfully ignorant until they receive a lungful of tarred smoke. In this article, we’ll discuss why it’s essential to keep your smoking apparatus shiny and clean. Then, we’ll explore the best ways to clean them.

WHY KEEPING YOUR SMOKING ACCESSORIES CLEAN IS SO IMPORTANT

There’s a bunch of reasons to keep your smoking gear clean at all times. Aesthetics are a major motivation, especially when it comes to glass. What’s the point of investing in an intricate glass rig just to let it stew in ash and tar? Respect the artwork!

Regularly cleaning your smoking gear will also lead to better-tasting hits. If you grow your own, you’ll know how much time and effort is required to produce high-quality cannabis. It takes skill and patience to nurture a tasty terpene profile. Don’t waste these exquisite tastes by smoking with a dirty bong or pipe.

A dirty bong won’t just ruin the taste; the buildup of tar and resin will irritate your throat. Clean bongs offer buttery smooths hits that go down a treat. Overall, cleaner equipment makes for a more pleasant smoking experience.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CLEAN YOUR BONG, BOWL, OR PIPE?

How often you clean your smoking gear should depend on how frequently you use it. If you’re blazing massive bowls every day, then tar and resin are going to build up fast. If you hit a pipe or bong once a week, it’ll take longer for the residue to build up. With that said, leaving it dirty and unused isn’t hygienic either.

The more often you clean your gear, the better. Give your bong or pipe a quick rinse after every smoking session to flush out some of the tar and resin. When the buildup starts getting severe, it’s time to give your gear a proper clean.

WHAT IS YOUR PIPE OR BONG MADE OF?

Different materials require different cleaning methods. You run the risk of damaging your rig if you apply the wrong kind of cleaning agent or technique. Check out how to clean different materials below.

GLASS & METAL

Glass bongs and pipes are on the delicate end of the spectrum. Although they often look prettier, they’re the most susceptible to damage. Glass pieces can be effectively cleaned using both alcohol and non-alcohol methods. However, you’ll want to avoid boiling techniques. Metal pipes, on the other hand, are safe to boil.

WHAT IS YOUR PIPE OR BONG MADE OF?

SILICONE

Silicone bongs are the easiest to clean. These pieces are heat and cold-resistant and can handle (pretty much) anything you throw at them. You don’t have to overthink things when cleaning a silicone bong or pipe.

WOOD

Wooden pipes can handle hot water, but harsh chemicals can damage them. High-proof alcohol can discolour wooden pipes and also leave behind residue. When cleaning a wooden piece, it’s best to use softer agents such as vinegar.

HOW TO CLEAN A BONG, BOWL, OR PIPE

Now that you know what to avoid, let’s get some cleaning done. Cleaning out your piece is an easy step-by-step process. To begin, you’ll need to gather the following items. We’ll discuss specific cleaners in each method.

EQUIPMENT

  • Cleaning brushes/pipe cleaners
  • Scraper/knife
  • Plastic tub
  • Cotton swabs
  • Ziplock bag
  • Micropore tapewater

ALCOHOL-FREE METHODS

Alcohol-free methods are effective at removing ash, tar, and grime. These techniques use less-harsh chemicals and require stuff you can find in your kitchen at home.

VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA

  • Bong
  1. Use a cotton swab to clean out the residue from the bowl. You might need to use a scraper if things get too sticky.
  2. Rinse out your bong with lukewarm water over a sink.
  3. Remove the bowl and place it in a Ziplock bag. Add a teaspoon of baking soda, a splash of vinegar, and fill the bag halfway with lukewarm water.
  4. Shake the bag, then let it rest.
  5. Now, back to the bong. Empty a teaspoon of baking soda into the mouthpiece. Cover the mouthpiece with your hand and the downstem hole with micropore tape; shake vigorously.
  6. The baking soda will stick to the wet surface inside. Use a long cleaning brush to scrub the inside surfaces.
  7. Next, pour in a tablespoon of vinegar and fill up the chamber with lukewarm water.
  8. Cover the holes again and shake.
  9. Pour out the solution and rinse the bong with lukewarm water.
  10. Remove the bowl from the Ziplock bag and rinse under the tap. Use a cotton swab to remove any sticky remnants.

ALCOHOL-FREE METHODS

  • Pipe
  1. Run a pipe cleaner through your piece a couple of times to remove any blockages.
  2. Fill up a container or jar with lukewarm water. Add a tablespoon of baking soda and an equal amount of vinegar.
  3. Place your pipe into the container and let it soak for five minutes.
  4. Remove the pipe and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  5. Repeat step one.

DISH SOAP

  1. Fill your sink with lukewarm water. Add a squirt of dish soap to create a bubbly solution.
  2. Use a cotton swab and scraper to remove residue from the bowl of your bong or pipe.
  3. Carefully place your piece into the water and let it soak for 20 minutes.
  4. Return to the sink armed with a cleaning brush or pipe cleaner.
  5. If you’re cleaning a bong, use a brush to thoroughly scrub the inside surfaces clean. Use a pipe cleaner to clean out the ownstem.
  6. For pipes, run a pipe cleaner through the piece 3–4 times. Dunk your pipe into the water between each clean to flush out the stem.
  7. Empty the sink and rinse your piece with lukewarm water.

BOILING WATER

Boiling water is an easy way to clean a piece. Remember, it’s not suitable for thin glass pieces.

  1. Place your bong or pipe into an empty sink. Clean out the bowl with a cotton swab and scraper.
  2. Boil the kettle and fill up the bottom of the sink with boiling water.
  3. Let your piece sit for 20 minutes, or until the water has sufficiently cooled.
  4. Empty the sink.
  5. Use a pipe cleaner and brush to remove tar and residue.
  6. Rinse with lukewarm water.

ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL METHOD

Isopropyl alcohol is a harsh cleaning agent. Use gloves when you’re dealing with it, and avoid using it on wooden pipes. It also helps to have some coarse salt at hand when using this method.

  • Bong
  1. Remove the bowl and clean it out with a cotton swab and scraper. Then, rinse it under the tap.
  2. Add a tablespoon of coarse salt, followed by a generous glug of isopropyl alcohol.
  3. Cover the downstem hole with micropore tape and the mouthpiece with a gloved hand. Shake vigorously for a total of five minutes.
  4. Empty the solution into the toilet and rinse the bong thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  5. Soak a tissue with isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the bowl and downstem.
  6. Soak a pipe cleaner with isopropyl alcohol and scrub the inside of the downstem. Rinse thoroughly.

HOW TO CLEAN A BONG, BOWL, OR PIPE

  • Pipe
  1. Use a cotton swab and pipe cleaner to remove residue from the bowl and the inside of the stem.
  2. Place your pipe into a Ziplock bag. Add a tablespoon of salt and enough isopropyl alcohol to cover the piece.
  3. Shake the bag for five minutes, then let sit for a further 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the piece and rinse thoroughly under lukewarm water.
  5. Scrub out the bowl and stem using a pipe cleaner and brush.
  6. Rinse thoroughly.

CLEANING BONG STEMS AND OTHER HARD-TO-REACH PLACES

It’s important to thoroughly clean bowls, downstems, and other hard-to-reach places. Although we mentioned it above, it’s worth repeating; you might get caught out by hidden residue. Disassemble your piece (if possible) before cleaning, and go to work with a brush and pipe cleaners to make sure your pipe or bong will provide clean and smooth hits.

IS IT TIME FOR A SMOKE YET?

Once your piece has been rinsed and dried, it’s ready for action! Investing a small amount of time into thoroughly cleaning your piece is well worth it. The next few hits are going to be so damn smooth. Going forward, try and clean your piece as regularly as you can. Cleaning your bong or pipe after one or two sessions is easy and only requires a small rinse. If you let it build up, then you’ll have to get scrubbing again!

Is It Possible To Overdose On Cannabis?

The idea that you can suffer a lethal overdose from cannabis is one of the oldest misconceptions about the plant. Contrary to what some would tell you, it’s impossible to hit the lethal limit. That being said, it is possible for you to get too high, and there are a few things you should look out for in that situation.

If you grew up somewhere with conservative drug views, you probably got a good talking-to about marijuana’s supposed dangers. During these warnings, it’s likely your teachers or parents brought up the potential of overdosing. The second that point comes up in discussions about weed nowadays, arguments are sure to get flung back and forth like cafeteria food in a high school movie.

It doesn’t have to be that way, though. There are clear answers, but we have to be aware of how we’re using the term “overdose”. After we clear that up, we just have to know how much is too much of a good thing.

CAN YOU OVERDOSE ON CANNABIS?

While you might associate overdosing only with drugs, you can overdose on basically anything. Had too much coffee? You could overdose. Too much water? Overhydration is a very real threat. Being able to overdose on something, though, does not mean the overdose is lethal. To keep it simple, as is the case with any substance, there is such a thing as too much cannabis. In that sense, an overdose is possible, but a lethal dose is very hard to reach—if at all.

WHAT IS A LETHAL DOSE OF CANNABIS?

How hard to reach, you wonder? Well, to hit the pearly gates, you’d need to smoke about 1,500 pounds (680kg) of cannabis in a blistering 15 minutes. If you’re trying to do the maths on how many joints that would take, don’t bother. The effects of the smoke itself, and smoking to that aggressive degree, would kill you long before the THC would.

You can ingest more THC with edibles since there’s no smoke, but there’s more to consider. You’d still need to consume 50 grams of pure THC to have a 50% chance of dying as an adult man. Even with the most potent edibles, you’re more likely to die from the excessive sugar and salt consumption.

Over

HOW TO SPOT WHEN YOU’RE TOO HIGH

So no, you won’t die. However, you’re not out of the woods yet. As many first-year university students will tell you, bad stuff can definitely happen when you smoke too much. To play off the old expression, what doesn’t kill you makes you really uncomfortable. There are specific discomforts to look out for, too, with some being more obvious than others.

If you’re familiar with weed’s effects, fatigue is probably one of the first symptoms you’d expect. There’s a difference between melting into the couch, of course, and falling asleep standing still. If you’re feeling closer to the latter, you might need to give in to temptation and sleep it off. Thankfully, no matter how much you smoke, the effects will only linger for a few hours at most. And hey, who doesn’t like a good 4–12-hour nap once in a while?

Speaking of symptoms you could predict, impaired movement is a good one to mention. While it’s not nearly as bad as what other substances cause, you’ll still be slumping and stumbling around. Forget being able to drive; even walking will be an interesting challenge. You’ll also feel your heartbeat getting faster and faster, with your blood pressure dropping in turn.

Lastly, perhaps the least pleasant of the symptoms, anxiety and paranoia are very likely to strike when you’re too high. Everyone’s brain works differently, of course, but THC has been proven to put certain people in those mindsets, and it only gets more likely as you take more.

HOW TO OVERCOME BEING TOO HIGH

As we mentioned before, these effects aren’t ever too long-lasting, and you can combat them easily. If you have the time and opportunity, taking a snooze is the most foolproof way to get through the high. If not, you still have some strategies at hand. Getting some food in your belly, along with hydrating, will also help to ease your tension and make the high a bit more bearable.

What do you do if you have neither on hand? Well, unfortunately there’s no choice but to ride it out. If you’re feeling too paranoid and anxious to interact, just remove yourself from the crowd and get comfortable. From there, find your way home if you’re not already there (do NOT drive yourself), get some blankets, and take some deep breaths. Listen to some calming music if you can, and let it guide you to sleep.

And above all, remember that it’s temporary. It’ll definitely be uncomfortable, but it won’t last forever, and you’ll be fine by the next day.

SMOKING TOO MUCH WEED ISN’T LETHAL, BUT THERE ARE SIDE EFFECTS

As it goes with all good things, you can always end up having too much. Just because too much cannabis won’t kill you doesn’t mean it won’t be a bad time. We don’t want to feel hyper-fatigued and paranoid, and we’re sure you don’t either. With that in mind, just make sure to enjoy the electric lettuce, like everything else, in moderation.

Some final tips: If you live somewhere that sells legal cannabis, talk with the budtenders at your dispensary or coffeeshop. They’ve heard every praise and grievance about their products. If you want to know whether a few hits of a strain will have you curled up in the corner, just ask! Based on your smoking habits, they can recommend you something with the perfect THC content. If you aren’t buying from a dispensary, though, and don’t know the THC content, just have a little at first. If those hits go over smoothly, have a few more, and feel it out from there. It’s that simple. Trust your body, trust your instincts, and you’ll never fail.

21. GO TO A THEME PARK

Sometimes, the real world feels like a fantasy world when you’re stoned, so going to a theme park totally matches. Going on rides meant for younger children could be hilarious, while gravity rides and dark rides are a whole other story. Riding a rollercoaster while high should really be on your bucket list! If you don’t live near a theme park, you can also catch that thrilling feeling by going to a good old playground. Just like when you were a kid, the see-saw, slide, or swings are just as enjoyable as they used to be.

22. GO TO A MUSEUM

It doesn’t matter if it’s modern art or natural history, surrounded by exhibits, there is something to see in every corner. Even if you are normally not that interested in museums, things can really come to life when you’re high. Looking at abstract, contemporary pieces, you might finally understand the emotion behind an artist’s work. Really observing art might conjure up all sorts of emotions, even if it’s just laughter. Checking out dinosaur skeletons or making a trip to the planetarium can bring you to a whole different universe, as will an interactive exhibition!

Can Cannabis Improve Sex? Everything You Need To Know

There’s always been a connection between weed and sex, but it hasn’t been backed by science until recently. Recent studies show that cannabis can improve your sex life in myriad ways, especially with its anxiety-reducing and libido-boosting effects.

While the two have often been connected, we were once unsure of whether cannabis positively impacted sex or not. If you relied on personal anecdotes, you would surely hear plenty of opinions from both sides of the issue, but no certain conclusions. Now, however, we have the power of science on our side. Emerging over the past couple of years, multiple studies have come out in support of cannabis as an aid to sexual enhancement or stimulation.

DOES CANNABIS MAKE FOR BETTER SEX?

The idea of “better” sex is subjective, of course, but it’s hard to argue with numbers. What do we mean by this, you wonder? We’ll walk you through the details in this article.

CANNABIS USE AND FEMALE SEX DRIVE

For the ladies, there’s a lot of enjoyment to be found in toking before poking. This is, at least, according to research published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine. In a study comparing women who used cannabis before sex to those who refused cannabis, researchers found the former group to be twice as likely to report reaching orgasm. The sex isn’t just better, either; it’s more frequent, too. In another study from The Journal of Sexual Medicine, researchers found women who used cannabis to have sex far more often than women who had never tried it. While this doesn’t guarantee the same effect for every woman, the positive association is clear.

CANNABIS USE AND MALE SEX DRIVE

It isn’t just women having all the fun, either. In the same study on sexual frequency mentioned above, researchers found men who used cannabis to experience a significant boost in coital activity compared to their non-smoking peers. Furthermore, for those who normally use pills like Viagra or Cialis for an extra boost, you don’t have to worry about marijuana conflicting with those effects. While no recent studies show whether weed improves orgasm rate, there isn’t as much literature on men struggling to reach climax.

CANNABIS USES IN SEX

Now, let’s get to the fun part. How can you use cannabis to enhance the sexual experience? Of course, we’re not just talking about the act itself, but everything surrounding it; from the decadence of a nice meal to the sensual foreplay of a massage.

DINNER DATE

Using cannabis during sex itself can be risky, but using it as a way to get the romantic juices flowing in general is a time-tested tool used by many. For example, it can be a great way to increase bonding time together—why not prepare a romantic meal? Get the candles out, pick the right playlist for the occasion, and allow yourself to be intimate and relaxed. Instead of garlic butter, why not add some homemade cannabutter to the mix? A simple and unobtrusive way to bring cannabis to the table, and you never know where dinner might lead!

COUCH DATE

Some heavy indica strains are known for their couch-lock properties that will leave you gazing longingly into the distance, an activity that can also be shared with your partner. Take advantage of these body-load strains and spend some time in each other’s arms or looking into each other’s eyes, as opposed to searching the cosmos.

NATURE DATE

Remember reading those lonely singles ads about enjoying long walks in the park as a means to show one’s sensitive side? Well, they might’ve just been marijuana smokers! Schedule a walk in an area you both enjoy—ideally the woods or something similarly serene. This way, you can marvel at the experience of being with your partner amongst the gorgeous scenery. Just don’t stray too far from the path…

MASSAGE DATE

The holy grail of dates. Let’s be honest—who doesn’t enjoy a massage session? You’re already halfway there with a distinct lack of clothes. Well, it turns out that cannabis users have hit the jackpot. It’s claimed that THC can help make female orgasms last 15 minutes, with the added benefit of being available in lubricant form. Whilst the effects are not guaranteed and vary depending on how you respond to cannabis, the process of applying the lubricant and its aromas are bound to do most of the work.

WHICH CANNABIS STRAINS MAKE FOR BETTER SEX?

Do you want to lose your inhibitions, or enhance your senses? Depending on what you desire, there are certain strains that are perfect for getting you in the zone before you get busy. Some of you might get nervous about your performance in the bedroom, and we don’t judge you one bit. To get rid of stage-fright, we’d suggest an indica-dominant hybrid like Kali Dog that will get you in a relaxed headspace, or a sativa like Shining Silver Haze that will have you feeling playful in no time. Sour Diesel, on the other hand, is a sativa that’ll have you feeling every touch on a deeper level; hybrid strains like Skunk XL, on the other hand, will give your libido a little extra kick.

BEST PRACTICES FOR HIGH SEX

There are a few tips you should keep in mind if you want the most mind-blowing high sex possible. Besides picking the right strain, of course, you should also watch how much you smoke. Remember, you’re enhancing the moment with cannabis, rather than making cannabis the focus of the moment. Along with that, if the strain you plan on using is new to you, take time to see how it affects your body. Once you’re comfortable there, though, keep things painless with a generous amount of lube, as the downstairs version of cotton-mouth is not unheard of. Oh, and if you were planning on doing edibles, sample them the night before you plan on doing anything. The high from those can be both unpredictable and long-lasting, so testing is the name of the game here.

And, of course, the most important part of any sexual encounter is consent, and this is especially true when psychoactive substances are thrown into the mix.

IS CBD GOOD FOR YOUR SEX LIFE?

For those who don’t like getting high, you might be wondering whether CBD has similar sexy benefits. Thankfully, you’re in luck! Not only has CBD been shown to improve energy and stamina in the bedroom—it’s been shown to sharpen one’s sense of touch as well. Along with all that, it may help relieve any pain that comes during the act. If you want to learn more about the benefits of CBD use before (and during) sex, feel free to check out our in-depth article on the topic.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF MIXING CANNABIS AND SEX?

As with any substance, the effects might not be fully positive. A 2011 study, for instance, found that prolonged cannabis use showed some connection to erectile dysfunction. Another study, performed one year earlier, found that frequent use inhibited some men’s ability to achieve orgasm. The former study, however, cited animal and in vitro studies as primary examples, and the latter involved self-reporting via telephone survey, so the truth is unclear. Overall, though, until new studies suggest otherwise, the benefits seem to far outweigh the risks.
